Town of Hilton Head Island issued the following announcement on December 6.
A Major Roadway and Infrastructure Reconstruction Project is underway along North Sea Pines Drive. Crews will begin working near the Ocean Gate of Sea Pines this week.
Due to limitations on working space and the need to excavate stormwater drainage pipe and install replacement pipe, periodic lane closures at the Ocean Gate (located at the intersection of Cordillo Parkway and South Forest Beach Drive) will be utilized during the week of December 6, 2021.
Inbound Lane Closure Information
- The Inbound Lane at the Ocean Gate will be CLOSED to traffic from 7 am – 5 pm, Monday, December 6th through Wednesday, December 8th, weather permitting.
- Drivers coming inbound into Sea Pines must use the Greenwood Gate located off of the Sea Pines Circle during the stated timeframe.
Tentative Outbound Lane Closure Information
- The Outbound Lane at the Ocean Gate closure is tentatively scheduled from 7 am – 5 pm Thursday, December 9th through Saturday, December 11th, weather permitting.
- Drivers exiting Sea Pines must use the Greenwood Gate located off of Greenwood Drive.
- Sea Pines CSA will confirm dates on the outbound lane closures as they are provided by our contractor.
Additional Project Reminders
- Traffic control and flaggers will be present during this work, drivers are asked to use caution in the work zone.
- Leisure trails near the Ocean Gate will be closed in both directions to accommodate this work.
- Emergency vehicles will have continuous access during these closures.
- Heavy traffic delays are expected, please plan accordingly.
