Technical College of the Lowcountry issued the following announcement on February 2.

Diners and foodies take note: The Bistro and Clist Café are now open at the Culinary Institute of the South.

The Clist Cafe

The Clist Cafe

The Clist Café is named for Liz and Todd Clist, longtime supporters of the Technical College of the Lowcountry. It offers a variety of “grab-and-go” items for sale including breads, pastries, soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps along with coffee and tea.

For those who prefer a fine dining experience, The Bistro offers a gourmet, three-course meal. Recent dishes include shrimp and grits, herb-crusted pork tenderloin with wild rice, and steak with pommes frites.

Both the café and bistro recently opened on the 1st  floor of the school, at 1 Venture Drive in Bluffton’s Buckwalter Place following the culinary institute’s grand opening and community celebration in November.

Meals and drinks at both eateries are prepared and served by students enrolled in the school’s culinary, baking and hospitality programs.

“Both spaces provide real-world experiences for our students who are learning how to cook, bake, manage a business and interact with customers,” said Chef Miles Huff, Dean of The Culinary Institute of the South. “We’re excited that the community can now dine with us and share in this experience.”

The Clist Café is open for walk-in patrons from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and offers plenty of outdoor seating. Visit www.tcl.edu/cafe for the latest updates.
