Vegetation Maintenance and Land Surveying Work Starts This Week at Three Local Parks | Pix4free
This week, Town contractors will begin vegetation maintenance and land surveying work at Fish Haul Beach Park, Barker Field Sports Complex and Barker Field Extension. All work is expected to be completed in early February.
Vegetation maintenance will include the removal of overgrown, invasive vegetation, trash/debris, and hazardous, dead, and downed trees. Certain areas within proximity to pathways, parking areas or other park amenities may be subject to temporary closures to ensure the safety of the public. The Town asks that all park and pathway users exercise caution when visiting and avoid any area identified as a work zone.
Surveying will include data collection for trees, topography, utilities, adjacent roadways, and property boundaries. Surveyors will flag all trees over 6 inches in diameter with white or green tape as they collect information for the survey. The tape will be removed when surveying is complete.
The vegetation maintenance is part of the Town’s efforts to enhance and improve existing park amenities and create safer and more inviting recreational spaces. The survey will be used in the planning and design for future park improvements.
