Runoff Election for Hilton Head Island Mayoral Race Set for Tuesday, November 22

A runoff election for the Hilton Head Island mayoral race is set for Tuesday, November 22, 2022, between JoAnn Orischak and Alan R. Perry.

While Perry and Orischak secured more votes than the other candidates who were listed on the November 8 ballot, neither were able to obtain the required fifty percent majority vote needed to win the mayor’s race outright. The runoff election will be held between these two candidates to determine the winner.

Early Voting

Hilton Head Island residents have an opportunity to participate in early voting for the runoff election. This early voting will begin on Wednesday, November 16 and will last through Friday, November 18. Early voting will be open from 8:30 am to 5 pm and will only be available at the following locations:

Beaufort County Government Center on Hilton Head Island

539 William Hilton Parkway

Hilton Head Island

Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Beaufort County

15 John Galt Road

Beaufort

Runoff Election Day

On the runoff election day, November 22, all Hilton Head Island voting precincts will be open from 7 am to 7 pm All Town residents who are registered to vote will be eligible to vote in the runoff election.  Residents must have been registered to vote with the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Beaufort County 30 days prior to the November 8 general election in order to qualify.

Absentee Voting

Voters who requested an absentee ballot during the general election and checked that they wanted to receive an absentee ballot if there was a runoff will automatically be sent a ballot.  Those ballots will be mailed later this week to the address voters provided.  Absentee ballots must be received in the elections office no later than 7 pm on election night (November 22, 2022) in order for them to be counted. Only those individuals who previously requested to vote absentee during the general election will be able to vote absentee for the runoff election.
