The Town of Hilton Head Island is pleased to announce that Zenos T. Morris, a project manager and technical designer with extensive experience, has joined the Town as Assistant Community Development Director.
"We are beyond excited to have such a talented and accomplished leader join our organization in this critically important role. His professional experience coupled with his community planning acumen and global perspective rounds out our outstanding Community Development team. With Zenos on board, we are well-positioned to advance our vision for Hilton Head Island and implement strategic initiatives for the betterment of our community," said Town Manager Marc Orlando.
Zenos came to Hilton Head Island seven years ago following a successful career with Gensler Architecture, Design and Planning Worldwide in its New York office. As a project manager with the firm, he steered architectural and interior teams, and founded its diversity scholarship program. In 2017, he joined the Court Atkins Group in Bluffton, where he was a project manager and senior project designer.
Zenos' broad experiences have afforded him the opportunity to work with diverse clients and lead the design and construction of projects throughout the United States and internationally in Qatar and Indonesia. During his 32-year career, his work has included master planning and programming of public facilities and spaces; innovative design that incorporates resiliency, sustainability and energy efficiencies; and creative redevelopment strategies that transform the built environment. He has led a range of corporate, hospitality, retail, government, education, and infrastructure projects that breathed new life into aging structures and created new spaces for gathering, living, and working. His most notable work includes Barclay’s iconic rooftop signage in Times Square, Comcast Center interiors and executive floors in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Msheireb Downtown Doha, Qatar Park Hyatt Hotel, and Hilton Head Christian Academy’s Bluffton campus.
In his role with the Town, Zenos will help oversee projects to enhance the quality of life for Hilton Head Island residents and ensure they reflect the Island's unique history, culture, diversity, and environment. "I am eager to work with Town leaders, staff, and the community to build on the progress of numerous projects currently underway and help create a connected and inclusive community. Hilton Head Island’s environment and culture drew me here, so I’m happy to be a part of helping to preserve and showcase it for current and future generations," Zenos said.
Zenos is a native of Brooklyn, New York, with family roots in Cameron, South Carolina. He graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, with a degree in architecture and is an avid golfer and cyclist. Putting his talents to use for the greater good of the community, Zenos has been actively involved with CANstruction, a nonprofit charity that hosts food drive competitions to provide canned goods to food banks and Rebuild Together.
