Beginning this week, the Town of Hilton Head Island will start conducting biannual assessments of its 64-mile public pathway network.
During these assessments, Town staff will inspect the condition of pathways and identify opportunities for maintenance, improvement, and beautification. This project is intended to correct issues on pathways before they become significant hazards or expenses. Additionally, this project will help identify future capital projects to expand the existing pathway network and enhance the experience of all pathway users by providing safe, efficient, and clean pathways.
Over the next several weeks, Town staff will be traveling on utility vehicles along the pathways to collect data and record observations for the assessments. They anticipate having the assessments completed in late September. Pathway users are encouraged to be careful and exercise caution if they see Town utility vehicles on pathways.
