William McAdoo "Mac" Deford, Jr.
William McAdoo "Mac" Deford, Jr., has been named General Counsel (formerly identified as Staff Attorney) for the Town of Hilton Head Island. He joined the Town staff on August 1.
As General Counsel, Deford will provide legal counsel, advice and services to the Town Manager, Town staff and members of Town boards and commissions. "We are all very excited to welcome Mac to our team. His knowledge and experience in municipal law and within the private sector will be extremely valuable in serving the residents of Hilton Head Island," said Josh Gruber, Deputy Town Manager.
Most recently, Deford served as Associate General Counsel for the Town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Prior to that, he was counsel for Blackbaud, Inc. He also is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Deford earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from The Citadel and a Juris Doctorate from the Charleston School of Law. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
