Hilton Head Island Mayor John McCann announced on Monday that he does not plan to seek re-election as mayor in the upcoming election on Tuesday, November 8.
"It has been a privilege to serve as mayor of Hilton Head Island and represent the residents who live here. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the community in this capacity and working alongside a dedicated and caring group of Town Council Members, our Town Manager, and our Town staff," Mayor McCann said.
McCann was elected as mayor in November 2018 and sworn into office in December 2018. Prior to becoming mayor, he represented Ward 6 on Town Council. McCann’s term as mayor ends December 5, 2022.
