Town Council to Hold Strategic Planning Workshop on September 8

The Hilton Head Island Town Council, Town staff and strategic partners will gather for a Strategic Planning Workshop on Thursday, September 8, at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa, 2 Grasslawn Avenue. It will be held from 9 am to 3:30 pm.

"During this workshop, we will talk about all the great work we’ve accomplished over the last fiscal year and the work that is currently underway. Our strategic plan serves as a blueprint for our initiatives, and it will be exciting to see the progress that has been made on them thus far," said Mayor John McCann.

At the workshop, Town Manager Marc Orlando and senior staff members will review progress of initiatives in the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Strategic Action Plan and lead a discussion on the prioritization of projects over the remainder of the current fiscal year.

Town Council adopted the strategic action plan last year in December. The plan lays out 65 initiatives aimed at protecting and preserving the Island’s natural environment, managing growth, developing creative revenue sources to fund delivery of services, and providing exceptional quality of life offerings in arts, culture, and recreation.

"Our strategic plan provides clear guidance from our Town Council on aligning Town resources and community priorities that best benefit our residents and business owners. We have worked steadily on the initiatives outlined in the plan and have made significant progress," Orlando said. "The workshop will give us an opportunity to highlight our work, assess our strategy for completing projects, and discuss proposed initiatives for the next fiscal year."

The workshop is open to the public and will include a public comment period. The agenda for the workshop will be posted to the Town's website at hiltonheadislandsc.gov no later than Thursday, September 1.
