Town of Hilton Head Island issued the following announcement on November 15.
The public has another opportunity to comment on future planning for Hilton Head Island’s Mid-Island Initiative Area during an Open Park Day event on Saturday, November 20.
The drop-in event takes place from 10 am to noon at the Mid-Island Tract, 9 Union Cemetery Road. Community residents who were not able to participate in a previous Open Park Day event are invited to meet with staff from the Town of Hilton Head Island and share their ideas on how they would like to see the area redeveloped. Parking is available at the property's Union Cemetery Road entrance.
MKSK, the Mid-Island Initiative Area Study lead consultant, and other project consultants hired by the Town will use input to prepare a redevelopment strategy for the area, which is comprised of a mix of old and new commercial developments, industrial uses, residential neighborhoods, the Hilton Head Island airport, Town-owned parklands and conservation areas, and significant cultural resources including Union Cemetery and St. James Baptist Church.
