Town of Hilton Head Island: Free COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics Available on Hilton Head Island

Town of Hilton Head Island issued the following announcement on October 6.

The Town of Hilton Head Island and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) will host free COVID-19 vaccine clinics for the public on Friday, October 8 and Sunday, October 10.

No identification, insurance or appointment are required, and there is no charge for the vaccines provided at these events.

Vaccine events will be held as follows:

  • Friday, October 8 from 9 am to 1 pm at Chaplin Community Park, 11 Cast Net Drive.

    DHEC will administer the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTec vaccine for those who received the first dose on September 17.  The Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine will be administered to all others. Booster vaccines will not be provided.

  • Sunday, October 10 from 12 pm to 3 pm at the Latin Music Festival at Shelter Cove Park, 39 Shelter Cove Lane.

    DHEC will administer the Pfizer and Janssen vaccines, and the Pfizer booster shot. The clinic will be located in the Hilton Head lsland Fire Rescue trailer, which will be stationed in front of the water feature at the park.

The Pfizer vaccine is approved for individuals 12 and older, and requires two shots 21 days apart. The Janssen vaccine is approved for individuals 18 and older, and only requires one shot.

In addition to the vaccine clinics, DHEC provides free COVID-19 testing as follows:

  • 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each Monday through November 29. The drive-thru testing events are held at Hilton Head Island Fire Station 4, located at 400 Squire Pope Road.
  • 9 am to 4 pm daily at Hilton Head Tanger Two, 1414 Fording Island Road in Bluffton.

    The testing site is located in the white tents behind the H & M Store off Bluffton Parkway. Pre-registration is recommended but not required. Individuals may pre-register at https://www.tourhealth.com.

You will receive your test results within 48 to 72 hours. If you are under 18 years of age, please bring your parent or legal guardian with you. They will need to give their consent before you can be tested.
