Town of Bluffton: Town of Bluffton to host Accommodations Tax Workshop

Document

Town of Bluffton issued the following announcement on July 13.

Representatives of local non-profits are invited to attend a Town of Bluffton Accommodations Tax workshop held on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall in the Henry “Emmett” McCracken, Jr. Council Chambers.

The Accommodations Tax, also referred to as the “bed” tax or “ATax” is a tax levied on the rental or charges for temporary sleeping accommodations. The tax provides funds which must be used to promote tourism through advertising, promotion, and providing for or enhancing the ability to attract and provide for tourists, primarily in the Town of Bluffton, in which the taxes were collected.

Each quarter the Town’s Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee (ATAC) reviews applications from non-profit organizations requesting money from the fund to promote tourism within the Town of Bluffton, usually for an event which the organization hosts. The next application deadline to be considered for ATax funds is noon on September 30, 2021.

A portion of the workshop is designed to assist new applicants with the process in applying for funds, application guidelines, and final reporting requirements. Additionally, the workshop will include information about state requirements, discussion for strengthening applications, and gain feedback and ideas on how to improve the application process.

No registration is required.  For further information, please contact Natalie Majorkiewicz at (email) nmajor@townofbluffton.com or (office) 843.706.4546.
