Construction Work at Former Modern Classic Motors Property Now Underway

0Comments

Preliminary work for planned demolition activities on Town-owned property at 355 William Hilton Parkway, the site of a former car dealership, is underway.

In preparation for this work and ongoing heavy equipment activities on the property, the Town of Hilton Head Island will be closing all access points into and thru the property between William Hilton Parkway and Main Street this week. The closure will remain in place until demolition work is completed.

The property is located on the site of the former Modern Classic Motors car dealership. The buildings on the property were demolished in 2012 leaving only the concrete building footprints, drive aisles and parking areas. The Town acquired the three parcels comprising the site in 2019.

Jones Brother Tree Surgeons, a contractor for the Town, recently began removing dead and hazardous trees and conducting general maintenance of overgrown vegetated areas of the property. In the coming months, the Town anticipates the project will continue with a procured demolition contractor to remove the remaining building slabs and portions of other paved surfaces.

Until further notice, this property will be considered an active construction zone and is not open to the public. For more information, contact Taylor Ladd, Project Manager, at 843-341-4607 or TaylorL@hiltonheadislandsc.gov.
