Beaufort County issued the following announcement on April 8.

Beaufort County Public Works responded to eight calls from County residents due to storm damage starting Tuesday evening through Thursday morning.  Eight trees were removed from roads and two signals needed to be repaired.

Tree efforts

Staff received calls from Beaufort County Dispatch for downed trees and removed the trees from the following roads.

  • Tuesday April 5 on Habersham Rd.
    Staff responded at 7:18 p.m. and completed the removal at 9:18 p.m.
  • Wednesday April 6 on Marsh Rd.
    Staff responded at 11:18 p.m. and completed the removal at 2:18 a.m.
  • Thursday April 7 on Needles Rd.
    Staff responded at 5:30 a.m. and completed removal at 6:30 a.m.
  • Thursday April 7 on Cherokee Farms Rd.
    Staff responded at 6:30 a.m. and completed removal at 7:00 a.m.
  • Thursday April 7 on Milledge Village Rd.
    Staff responded at 7 a.m. and completed removal at 7:30 a.m.

From BC Connect

  • Thursday April 7 on Witsell Rd.
    Report of downed trees on Witsell Rd. Dispatched Stormwater staff at 8:44 a.m.  Staff reported that three trees were down and were removed from Witsell Road.

Traffic Signal efforts

  • Traffic Operations was called out on Tuesday, April 5, to respond to a flashing light located at Highway 278 at Tanger 2 Outlets. Staff worked from 10:51 p.m. until 12:42 a.m.
  • Wednesday, April 6, to respond to a flashing light located at Highway 278 near Okatie Center. Staff worked from 4:15 a.m. to 6 a.m.
